Southern Wisconsin News celebrated its 75th anniversary September 21st, 2008.  We are the southern Wisconsin area's most respected and capable magazine and book wholesaler with significant market share gaining's through personalize regional service provided our customers.

Southern Wisconsin News' industry-leading distribution and logistics operation, provides efficient category based deliveries to its customers each week.  Our local operating management takes pride in delivering excellent service, based on our local market knowledge. Southern Wisconsin News' broad reach and infrastructure across the entire southern Wisconsin and portions of Illinois effectively receives, processes, delivers, plus tracks deliveries and returns of magazines and books.

Throughout the regional marketplace, Southern Wisconsin News also merchandises retail displays to ensure proper presentation of the best-selling titles. Category management strategies utilize system analytics of our DPS System software that forecasts title sales for each retail location, ensuring that sales are maximized. The advanced software allows controlled category management for store clusters, each individual store or retail chain. Southern Wisconsin's' ability to grow sales through utilization of our advanced data management tools and space allocation systems has earned new business in 2007 and 2008 capturing an ever increasing regional market share.

Founder

Robert Purnell Sr. founded Southern Wisconsin News in 1933 by acquisition of the local distribution of the Chicago Tribune newspaper for Edgerton, Wisconsin area.  For many years, Bob faced numerous uphill battles to sustain and grow the business, including during his absence while serving as a pilot in World War II.  For a period of time, he delivered newspapers out of the sidecar of a motorcycle and ran longer routes across southern Wisconsin from an old Army ambulance and various panel trucks.  It was his persistence and dedication that continues to carry this family company forward into the future.  Bob celebrated his 94th birthday this past September 20th, 2008.
